mason jar mugs
these remind me of my childhood. we used to have tons of these around the house. note to self: check to see if mom still has any

cable knit throw
this would be the coziest blanket to wrap up in. i would run right out and get this but the $79 price tag makes me sweat a bit. so, on the wishlist it goes.

i pink puffy heart pottery barn

last night i had a chance to go through my pottery barn “home for the holidays” catalog and i was in heaven! i tore out a bunch of pages to add to my decorating inspiration binder (i’m “old school” like that. there’s just something about flipping through the pages in my binder for decorating inspiration rather than trying to figure out what computer and what folder i saved something in) but there were a few things i have added to my wishlist.

fall’s tv line-up

for most networks, this week is chocked full of series and season premieres. i have to say, i’m more excited about my favorite shows returning than i am about the new shows that are making their debut. we’ve added a couple to the dvr list, but it will be a few weeks before the verdict is in on those. in the mean time “how i met your mother,” “glee!” “modern family,” “happy endings” (a late bloomer from last spring) “big bang theory” and so many more are already in queue.

i hope we can keep up….

weekend adventures

while tim headed to blacksburg, va on saturday for the virginia tech game, i headed out on a mission. i had a laundry list of things i wanted to check off so i could be home before the uk/uofl game started (way to go cards!!). first up, target (for the umpteenth time since tuesday). then off to the nursery to buy bushes for the front yard. the six penny mac hydrangea and six gardenia bushes barely fit into the explorer so i headed home to unload, grab some lunch and throw a load of laundry in. it was back out for a few more errands and then home just in time for kickoff. at halftime, i picked up emily and some take out and we came back to the house to wait for the boys.

sunday started bright and early. we wanted to get a head start on planting the bushes since yard work always takes three times longer than anticipated. the anise bushes we planted out front this spring were transplanted to the back yard (they weren’t looking so hot). then we planted the hydrangea and gardenia in the front. it was a lot of work (my shoulders and back are s.o.r.e!) but it looks sooo good! i’m really happy with the results and hopefully our plants will flourish in their new homes.

maybe next weekend will be a bit less labor intensive….

YESSSSS!

i have been checking stalking a few of my local targets to see if they received anymore shipments of the missoni line. and up until today, i left empty handed. each defeat left me less and less hopeful of ever finding any of the items on my wishlist. so today, i walked in expecting the same result….leaving empty handed. but. BUT!! they had just put out a few boxes the flats!!

score!

i snatched up two pair (one for me and one for sis) and skipped to the check-out line. now if they would re-stock the silk scarves….

still hoping this lovely lady shows up in a store

favorite things friday – “homebody” edition

it has been a long week. between catching up from being out for a week and the disaster (for me at least!) that was the missoni launch, i am done with this week! while some prefer to blow off steam from a long week by going out, i would much rather stay in. after a full week of meetings and conference calls, the last thing i want to do is talk more. so this evening’s agenda involves a quiet night in with a few of my favorite things to unwind….

folie a deux menage a trois red wine

this is one of my go to wines. it’s relatively cheap ($10.99) and tasty….if i’m not careful, the contents of the bottle can disappear in no time!

cozy blankets

i have a whole basket of blankets in our den to choose from. the softer the better!

dvr

whether it’s catching up on taped shows (i realize that is a very retro term these days, but i still refer to all of my dvr recordings as my “taped shows”….don’t judge!) from the week or watching a movie, i am a happy camper….just so long as goodlookin’ is next to me (all together now…. “awwwe!”).

i hope you have a lovely evening and a restful weekend!

missoni fiasco

i’m still kicking myself for not going yesterday morning (stupid work!). the one time i assume there will still be plenty when i get there after work (remember my experience with the liberty of london debut? i was the only person in the target that morning), stuff is snatched up within seventeen minutes of the store opening. but we all know what happens when you assume….

i just can’t believe the madness that ensued first thing yesterday morning over this collection! target’s website crashed multiple times yesterday. sales yesterday rivaled those of black friday. i’ve heard stories of people just throwing stuff in their carts. not even looking at the size, price, object; just clearing out shelves in one fell swoop. and now items are showing up on other websites selling for two, three, even four times as much as they were at target.

needless to say, when i headed to my local target after work, i found that practically everything was gone. women’s clothing? gone! women’s accessories? gone! home furnishings? GONE! in some places, the displays were even gone. i wandered the isles hoping to find a discarded scarf or headband hiding under a vacuum cleaner, but that was not the case. just a few pairs of girls shoes and some home office items were left among the rubble. i did find the candles but didn’t like how they smelled so i passed and came home empty handed.

i’m keeping my eyes and ears peeled though for new shipment announcements. well, i’m not sure that new shipments would even be announced. but i will be making frequent visits over the next week to see if anything shows up.

what about you? did you go first thing this morning? was it pure madness? did you have any luck?
